I was reading 7x7 magazine (I got a free subscription) recently, and came across a pull-out guide to Napa. However, I was already so overloaded by the way too many uber hip names and abbreviations and acronyms that for some reason, I read it NaPa, like SoMa or NoPa, and I thought, good God, not ANOTHER mirco neighborhood I've never heard of. I mean, I like them, San Francisco's baby neighborhoods, but sometimes the constant self-referentiality (is that a word?) of it all can drive one crazy. I mean, who the hell do we think we are?
I started to look at the guide to see what's in this fantastic NaPa, and realized it was just...you know...Napa. Wineries and art galleries and grapes. The exotic and annoying turned instantly into the familiar and knowable. And you know what? The guide was crappy - just a bunch of ads!
ThaNks aLot, 7x7.
